Overview of Sun certification

1. Sun certified Associate for the Java platform standard edition.

My: This certification is for entry level Java programmers and students interested in pursuing a career application development or software project management using the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) technology.

This is most recent edition of sun certification . This certification is for those who are responsible for application development or a software project management career using java technology.

2. Sun certified  programmer ( SCJP).

This certification is for beginners , who wish to demonstrating proficiency in the fundamentals of java programming language using J2SE .

3. Sun Certified developer for  the Java 2  platform (SCJD).

The performance based certification is for programmers & developers interested in demonstrating advance proficiency in the java programming language by using J2SE technology.

4. Sun certified web component developer for J2EE platform (SCWCD). 

    This certification is specialized certification for programmers, in the field of J2EE application.

5. Sun certified business component developer (SCBCD).

This certification is for Enterprise java bean( EJB) technology business component   developer. This is specially for the developer who are responsible for designing , developing , testing, & integrating EJB application. 

6. Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services for J2EE (SCDJWS).

This certification is for the developer who have been creating Web services applications using Java technology components in J2EE platform.  

7. Sun certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE (SCEA).

This certification is for the developer who are responsible for designing , architecting J2EE technology –compliant application. 

8. Sun Certified Mobile Application developer for the Java 2 platform, Micro Edition.

This certification is for the developers who are responsible for creating mobile application using J2ME platform.

    Preparation :

1.    For success the certification , you are studying  various news letter , news, & tutorial section.

2.    Alternatively  you can purchase the Career Accelerator Package from Sun. Each CAP package is specific to the type of certification you want, and CAP packages are available in the following learning modes:

 Instructor-led Training - Provides lectures and labs delivered by technical experts certified in their field as instructors.

Web-based Training - Entitles you to 24/7 access to courseware from a desktop or laptop and select courses include eMentoring from subject matter experts.

ePractice Exams - Helps you prepare to take Sun certification exams by practicing before taking the real exam.

Exam Vouchers - Gives you entitlement to take the certification exam at an authorized Prometric testing center.

Programming Assignments - Submitted online and evaluated by an expert programmer, validates your expertise as a Java programmer or architect.

It should be noted that,

1.    Sun always recommended instructor-led classes and six to twelve months of actual job role experience.

2.    There are no guarantees of pass. Sun does not give it.

3.   Once you have taken training, either instructor-led or web-based, you've had all your questions answered through eMentoring, you've taken practice exams and done well, received your voucher, and worked out an assignment, then you are ready to take the certification exam.
